Online 28-Hour Class “G” License Course

Students Must Hold a Valid Class “D” License Before Applying for a Class “G” License

Guards Institute provides professional security training programs designed to prepare students for careers in the private security industry. Our courses are structured to help individuals build the knowledge, discipline, and practical skills required to pursue licensing and employment opportunities in the State of Florida.

The Online Class “G” course at Guards Institute is designed for students who want to complete the classroom portion of their firearms training online while attending the required in-person range qualification on the third day.

Live Online Classroom Training + In-Person Range Qualification

This course covers firearms safety, marksmanship fundamentals, firearms mechanics, handling procedures, liability awareness, loading and unloading procedures, clearing malfunctions, safe draw techniques, and practical firearm proficiency development.

• Applicant must be at least 18 years of age.
• Applicant must complete the required 28 hours of Class “G” firearms training through a state-approved training program.
• Applicant must complete firearms safety and range qualification requirements.
• Applicant must complete target training and handgun marksmanship instruction.
• Applicant must receive training in firearm handling, care, and legal responsibility.
• Applicant must submit fingerprinting and a passport-style photo as part of the licensing process.
• Applicant must successfully undergo a criminal background check.
• Applicant must meet all other eligibility requirements established by the State of Florida.

Students must attend and successfully complete both the online classroom instruction and the in-person range portion in order to satisfy course requirements.

Please review the registration page for scheduled class dates, online session times, and the required in-person range date. Administrative services, ammunition, and range-related fees may be separate unless specifically stated in your registration package.

Upon successful completion of the live online classroom training and the required in-person range qualification, students will receive a Certificate of Proficiency.

Students must then submit their application materials to the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Division of Licensing. License processing times may vary.

Once approved, the Class “G” license authorizes the license holder to work in an armed capacity where permitted by Florida law. Students should also be aware that an annual 4-hour requalification is required each year to keep the Class “G” license active.
